Shiobune Kannon Temple

Shiobune Kannon Temple

Enjoy the spectacular view of azaleas spreading three-dimensionally at Shiobune Kannonji Temple

If you visit Ome in the spring, be sure to visit Shiobune Kannon-ji Temple to see the azaleas. The azaleas planted in the temple's grounds, taking advantage of the temple's mortar-shaped terrain, all turn their colors at once, creating a spectacular three-dimensional scene of red, pink, white, and purple flowers in bloom. The azaleas change their expressions depending on the angle from which you view them and the position from which you stand, making it possible to enjoy their various beauties as you walk along the path. The harmony of the Kannon-do Hall standing in the center and the brightly colored azaleas is also a highlight, and the view from the hill from the top is breathtaking. The view from the hilltop is breathtaking. The gorgeous spring scenery spreading across the tranquil precincts of the temple makes this a beautiful place of flowers that will calm your mind and heart.

Key points for photography

The key to photographing azaleas is to take advantage of the difference in elevation due to the mortar-shaped topography, and compose your shot from a position that conveys a sense of three-dimensionality. If you look down from a high vantage point, it is easy to capture in a single shot the overlapping expanse of colorful azaleas, and by including the Kannon-do temple in the frame, depth and narrative are created. Conversely, looking up from below emphasizes the power of the flowers filling the slope. Soft light in the morning is recommended because it brings out the natural color of the flowers and allows for gentle shadows to be expressed. By changing your standing position little by little and looking for a gap in the field of view, you can capture the three-dimensional and gorgeous spring scenery that is unique to **Shiofune Kannon-ji** in an impressive manner.
