Nogi Hoffman House

A Quiet Autumn Among the Metasequoias at Nogi Hofmann House

The Metasequoia trees at Nogi Hoffman House are a recommended photography spot for those seeking to capture autumn in a tranquil atmosphere. The scene of the brick-style Western-style mansion lined with yellow-tinged metasequoias evokes a somewhat exotic feel. Soft light easily filters in from morning through midday; framing the metasequoias while making the building the main subject creates atmospheric shots. With little of the hustle and bustle typical of tourist spots, it's also appealing for allowing you to take your time composing your shots. While not flashy, it's the place to visit when you want to carefully capture a quiet autumn.

Key points for photography

As of December 13, 2025, many leaves had already fallen, and it felt like the peak viewing period had just passed. Therefore, I plan to revisit at a better time next time. The Metasequoia avenue has a wide path, and I felt that using a telephoto lens to shoot from a distance could capture photos with a sense of depth and a calm atmosphere.
