Sanjutsuchi no Hyobashira|The power of nature's icicles and valleys

Sanjutsuchi no Hyobashira is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of powerful ice formations created by nature.

Sanjutsuchi no Hyobashira (Ice Pillars of Sanjutsuchi) is a must-see spot in winter, where you can photograph the power of the ice pillars created by nature as they are. The icicles are formed along rock faces, cliffs, and river currents, and each pillar has a different shape, giving the viewer a strong sense of the beauty of nature's formations. The view from the other side of the river will give you a sense of the scale of the icicles as a whole and the atmosphere of the valley at the same time, creating a unique winter scene of Chichibu in a single shot.

Key points for photography

The key to taking photographs is to be aware of the relationship between the river and the icicles, and to compose the image so that the viewer can see the entire scene from the opposite side of the river. By bringing the river into the foreground, depth is created and the scale of the icicles and the atmosphere of the valley can be expressed naturally. A pull-up shot of the numerous icicles lining the cliff will emphasize the power of the icicles, while a partial crop will draw attention to the shape and texture of each individual icicle.
