In this photo, a white-winged teal perched on a branch of a scarlet cherry tree, just as it was about to spread its wings. I was conscious of the timing of the shutter release to capture the momentary dynamism of the flapping wings. At Ebara Shrine, white-eyes can be seen visiting during the blooming period of scarlet cherry blossoms and sucking the nectar of the flowers. The contrast between the deep pink of the scarlet cherry blossoms and the green of the white-eyes is distinctive and is part of the spring scenery of the shrine grounds. There is also a statue of Ebisu-sama inside the shrine, which is believed to be a guardian deity of prosperous business and the fishing industry. The deity is widely revered as a god of good fortune, and worshippers can be seen laying hands on him.
