This photograph, taken at the Nikko Hana Ichimonme festival, captures a dahlia with the center of the flower in shadow and light streaming onto the surrounding petals. By focusing on the contrast between light and shadow and highlighting the three-dimensional depth and beautiful shape of the layered petals, I sought to convey the striking character unique to dahlias.
