This photo was taken at the Mashiko Sunflower Field, where countless sunflowers were blooming toward the sun and the clear blue sky at the same time. It is an exhilarating shot. The August sun was turning the hills of Mashiko golden as a million sunflowers looked up at the sky, all facing the same direction, with summer clouds slowly drifting behind them. Walking through the fields, the wind ruffles the flowers, and waves of yellow wash over you in layers. If you crouch down and gaze at a single flower, even the pollen grains shine in the sun, and the distant mountain range is enveloped in a faint haze. Here, even time is tinged with the colors of summer.
