This photo was taken at Hakusan Shrine (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), which I felt was "a gap of hydrangea peeking through the komainu.

This photo was taken of komainu (guardian dogs) through a gap in the hydrangea at Hakusan Shrine. Hakusan Shrine in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward is a recommended spot for photographing the harmony of a Japanese scene and nature. Especially during the hydrangea festival season, the colorful hydrangeas and shrine-like motifs such as komainu (guardian dogs) and ema (votive picture tablet) stand out beautifully.
