This photograph was taken from a slight distance, capturing the round window at the rear of Myōgen-in Temple. I focused on the hydrangeas while carefully composing the shot to include the atmosphere of the foreground. Meigetsu-in is a temple in Kamakura with a particularly serene atmosphere, where the early summer hydrangeas and the round window create a beautifully harmonious scene. The hydrangeas blooming along the approach and stone steps are vivid yet tranquil, while in the iris garden further back, flowers in gentle hues sway in the breeze. The view from the round window also soothes the soul.
