Chidorigafuchi|Chidorigafuchi: Where Classics Bring Solace

Year 2025April 2025AprilChidorigafuchi (fountainhead)Tokyo Metropolitan areacherry blossomblooming (esp. of cherry blossoms)
This photo captures the feeling of being soothed by the familiar sights at Chidorigafuchi.

This photo captures the full bloom of cherry blossoms and boats gliding across the water from a classic Chidorigafuchi photo spot. Though a well-known location, the scenery still captivated me. The cherry blossoms blooming along the historic moat west of the Imperial Palace at Chidorigafuchi are an indispensable part of Tokyo's spring landscape. The approximately 700-meter stretch of Somei-Yoshino cherry trees extends their branches over the water, reflecting the changing seasons. The sight of boats passing by and the view from the elevated vantage point offer a beauty that captivates visitors. While the contrast between the cherry blossoms and the sky on clear days is stunning, photography on cloudy days or at dusk also has its own unique charm.
