This photo was taken from directly above and focused on the left half of the beautiful flower hand basin near the entrance to Ichijo Keikan Villa. The colorful flowers floating on the surface of the water give the impression of gently welcoming visitors. Ichijo Keikan Villa in Nikaido, Kamakura was built in the early Edo period by Ichijo Keikan, the ninth prince of Emperor Goyozei, and the building and its dry landscape garden, which were relocated from Kyoto, preserve the elegance of the past. During the rainy season, hydrangeas bloom alongside the moss-covered stone pavements and wooden buildings, adding color to the tranquil atmosphere. Visitors also enjoy the hana-tezui (flower water feature), in which seasonal flowers float in water flowing from a bamboo tube, which is especially beautiful and cool during the hydrangea season. When autumn arrives, the garden is enveloped in vivid autumn colors, and the tranquility of the season is deeply felt.
